Cocoa Beach
Yesterday we spent some time in Epcot, then headed to Cocoa Beach, home of the famous Ron Jon Surf Shop.
Florida DeMolay was preparing for their mini-Conclave. We visited with the Executive Officer and some of his staff and State Officers, then headed back to Disney World.
The entrance to our treehouse was being guarded by these guys.

Two Kingdoms
Tuesday we visited the Magic Kingdom. We
rode a few rides and traded some vinylmations, and tried to check out
the new expansion in Fantasyland over the construction walls. On our way
back to the Treehouses, we walked through the Polynesian resort. Today we went to Animal Kingdom. This is a beautiful park, but it is too heavy on shows.
The rides it has are fun, but it needs a couple more, especially ones the whole family can enjoy.

Treehouse Villas
Today we checked out of our room at Saratoga Springs, and into a Treehouse Villa. Although the Treehouses have 3 bedrooms, they have only 2 baths, and the baths and the bedrooms are smaller than a two bedroom villa at Saratoga Springs.
Still the kids liked having their own room, and we liked the rustic feel and the larger dinning area of the Treehouse.
We spent the afternoon at Blizzard Beach, then went into town for dinner and to buy more groceries for the rest of our stay. It was a great day for the water park, as the weather was pretty warm but hardly anyone was there. None of the slides had any lines.

Downtown Disney & Medieval Times
Yesterday we took the boat from Saratoga Springs to Downtown Disney. We looked in the shops and played some games at DisneyQuest.
For dinner we went to Medieval Times. We hadn't been since 2003. The tournament was fun and the food was pretty good.
Tonight we celebrated Susan's birthday with dinner at Boma's, an African
flavored buffet restaurant at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. We had eaten
there on our last visit to Disneyworld and really enjoyed it.

Hollywood Studios
Yesterday we hit the pool at Saratoga Springs and watched some movies in our room.
After dinner, we headed into the Studios for Extra Magic Hours. We rode the new Star Tours ride and went to Tatooine and Naboo.
We checked out the Osborne Lights before they were taken down with the other Christmas decorations, and explored the Animation building.

Islands of Adventure
Today we went to Islands of Adventure at Universal Orlando, the second park Universal built in Orlando, after Universal Studios. Our last visit to both parks was in 2003.
We went mainly to see the relatively new Wizarding World of Harry Potter area. IOA consists of several “ports of call” set around a central lagoon. The Harry Potter area was pretty crowded, so we walked around the park trying to do other things until after dinner.
We ate lunch at Mythos, which was pretty good, then rode some of the other rides. Many of the attractions are very well done, especially the Spider-Man ride, but tend to throw you around or spin you more than Disney rides do. In the evening, we looked through the stores and tried the butterbeer at the Three Broomsticks. We then rode the Dragon Challenge and, right before closing, the Forbidden Journey. The Dragon Challenge, which used to be called Dueling Dragons before it became part of the Harry Potter area, is a two sided racing coaster. Forbidden Journey is a dark ride which uses screens and props to hurl you through the world of Harry Potter.

Extra Magic Hours
After dinner Sunday night, we headed into Epcot to watch Illuminations. It's a great fireworks show.
After that we went to the Magic Kingdom for extra magic hours. The park was open until 3 am, and most of the popular rides stayed open until then for resort guests only.Yesterday we slept in, then headed into Epcot. We ate dinner at Morocco, and wandered around the World Showcase. During extra-magic hours we rode the some of the rides in Futureworld, then took the bus back to Old Key West.

Old Key West
Yesterday we flew out to Orlando Florida. We took the Magical Express to Walt Disney World, and checked into the Old Key West resort.
While the kids went to the Magic Kingdom to see the fireworks, we walked around the Hospitality House and had appetizers at Olivia's, the restaurant at Old Key West. We enjoyed it, as it's reasonably priced and fairly laid back. There's a lot of seafood on the menu, but enough other things to keep those who don't like seafood happy. We had conch fritters.
Today we enjoyed our back deck while the kids spent some time at Blizzard Beach, then met at Olivia's for dinner. Old Key West was the first Disney Vacation Club resort built. It's somewhat spread out, with multiple buildings and adjacent parking lots, and several pools.
