When Jennifer and Bryan were accepted to a summer program at Sophia University in Tokyo, we decided to take a two week vacation in Japan before they started. On Friday we boarded a plane at PDX and landed Saturday evening at Narita airport outside Tokyo.
We spent the night at a hotel near the airport, and on Sunday took a train to Tokyo station.
There we boarded another train to the Tokyo Disney resort. The two parks at the resort, Disneyland and DisneySea, are built back to back and circled by a monorail, which in turn is surrounded by a half dozen hotels. We checked our bags at the welcome center and walked around Ikspari, Tokyo Disney’s shopping and entertainment area, which lies between the parks next to the train station.
We then walked over to look at the Disneyland Hotel, which is located right outside the entrance to Tokyo Disneyland.
From there, we took the monorail to the Mira Costa Hotel, which is themed to the Italian Renaissance and sits over the entrance to Tokyo DisneySea, with some rooms looking out into the theme park. We looked around and ate lunch at Oceano, a buffet restaurant. It was pretty good.
