Myrtle Beach and Beaufort

This week Susan and I took another trip up to South Carolina. Besides visiting Charleston, we spent a day in Myrtle Beach, mostly walking around the Broadway at the Beach area.

We ate at the Hard Rock Cafe there. It was the 28th HRC I have visited.

On the way home we stopped in Beaufort to check out the downtown and visit the Reconstruction Era National Historic Park. We weren't too impressed with the park. Maybe it will be more interesting to visit when Covid restrictions are no longer in place.

Beaufort was nice though. We walked down to the river, and drove around a bit.

April in the parks

 

We spent another day at the Flower and Garden Festival last week. Besides the topiaries, we enjoyed the gardens and having some snacks and drinks at the festival booths. We also did a few attractions.

 

Work continues on the old Mousegear building. Currently Mousegear is being housed in the old Innoventions building that held the Electric Umbrella.

Jennifer spent several days visiting the parks with friends in early April. Yesterday she went to Universal. The new Jurassic Park coaster is almost complete.

Epcot Construction

While we enjoyed the Flower and Garden Festival, I also checked on the progress of construction at Epcot. Demolition of the old Innoventions West building in the center of Future World was almost complete.

And part of the new France expansion had been opened up - but just to allow access to the new restrooms.

While work on the new Guardians of the Galaxy roller coaster, which will replace the Universe of Energy attraction, continued.

They've also been adding barges in the center of the lagoon for the new fireworks show that will debut in the fall.

Flower and Garden Festival

This week we returned to Epcot for the Flower and Garden Festival. We enjoyed seeing the topiaries and sampling some of the food and beverages.

While no new topiaries appeared this year, the Remy topiary which debuted last year returned near the entrance to the future expansion of the France pavilion. Other topiaries also appeared in different locations.

When we visit Epcot, we often stop at the DVC lounge on the second floor of the Imagination pavilion to rest and get free sodas and snacks. It's a great perk.

Busch Gardens and more

 

Last week, we returned to Busch Gardens. This time Bryan joined us. We spent most of our time enjoying the All-Day Dining, but we also rode the train and looked at the animals and did a couple of the coasters.  

This week Susan and I took the trailer down to Fort Pierce and hung out on the coast for a couple of days. We stayed at a KOA across the highway from the beach.

We took Lily for a walk around Wildcat Cove. Fort Pierce is fairly industrial and run down, but Port St Lucie a half hour south was nice. 

Vero Beach

Last week, to celebrate our anniversary, Susan and I spent a couple of days at Disney’s Vero Beach Resort. Bryan and Jennifer came out too. We enjoyed walking on the beach, eating at the resort’s restaurant, and swimming in the pool. 

On our way home we stopped at the Bass Pro Shop in Melbourne and admired their alligator display.

This week Bryan and Jenn went to Epcot with friends to enjoy the Festival of the Arts.

Disney Parks

 

At the beginning of the month, Epcot pulled down some of the walls in the front of the park, revealing a new entrance fountain.

Susan and I finally got to experience Rise of the Resistance at Hollywood Studios. It is a fantastic ride, and I really look forward to enjoying it without Covid restrictions. Susan’s sister and niece came out last week so we took them to the parks a couple of days. I also enjoyed watching them make lightsabers at Savi’s Workshop.

 

We also spent a day at Animal Kingdom, and ate at Yak n Yeti for the first time. It was pretty good.  

Finally, we enjoyed the Festival of the Arts in Epcot.
